Marshfield to Coos Bay “The City of Coos Bay is celebrating 150 years in 2024. Here’s a little history provided by the Coos History Museum.” In 1853, a pioneer named James C. Tolman brought his wife and child to the Coos Bay region. He was one of the first Euro-Americans to file a donation land claim and build a cabin on the marshy east side property of the bay’s peninsula.
