The nr 1 reason why I add fresh grass clippings in my Raised beds, is to build Healthy soil. The secret to healthy soil : add thin layers of organic mulch on top of your soil throughout the season. Use what's available : grass, straw, leaf mulch etc. When you use fresh grass clippings, make sure to spread it out in a THIN, even layer.
