A quick video showing our setup in the barn for weaning the calves. The calves are still with their mums, but now they are approaching 10 months, they are ready to be weaned. Their diet will now be almost entirely hay and silage and they won’t be drinking much milk from their mothers at this stage. To help with the weaning process we set up an area which the calves can access, but the bigger cows can’t. This is known as a ‘creep’ as the calves can creep under the bar and the cows are too big too
