Benin Bronzes: Return of the artefact

The Kingdom of Benin, in what is now Edo State, Nigeria, had a collection of many thousandmetal statues and plaques that were used to adorn the royal palace. The pieces were produced starting in the thirteenth century by artists of the Edo people and together they represent the outstanding examples of Benin art.
