Magnolia “Butterflies” is the spectacular outcome of crossing our native cucumber magnolia (Magnolia acuminata) and the Yulan magnolia (Magnolia denudata) from China. Last year, the flowers of this tree were zapped by frost before they could open. The lack of frost the last few weeks have allowed it to reach its full glory this year.
