How to get over my fear of jumpscares? : r/horror - Reddit
You do not know fear, until you have browsed scary askreddit threads all night, and then click that link with your headphones on. Sometimes in the shower I still hear the clicks and see the head turning around to scare the shit out of me. I literally chucked my computer across the room. After that day, jump scares seem easy to me.
I don't really get the "no jumpscare" hate trend that seams to go on
A good jump scare is great. A film full of nothing but jump scares is shallow film making, like a comedy full of fart jokes. But if you LIKE a movie full of fart jokes, then hey who cares? The jump scare is a horror movie staple but it needs to work in conjunction with a deeper, more complex, emotionally rich story.
How do I get over fear of jumpscares : r/horror - Reddit
2023年1月30日 · Remove the surprise. Most jump scares rely on a simple set up, silence, and payoff. Some movies are better at hiding this than others but once you start looking for it you'll get jump scared way less. It's gotten to the point where I can literally count down to the jump scare just because if gotten use to the timing.
Best Non-Jump Scare Horror Films : r/horror - Reddit
2018年7月28日 · The best jump-scares are the ones that actually have a real threat behind them instead of a fake scare by one of the characters or a creaking door or something. But even when they're overused it becomes tedious. So the trick to a real jump-scare is to disarm your audience with something they should actually be scared of.
The Thing's Incredible Jump Scare : r/TrueFilm - Reddit
2022年9月4日 · This is the jump scare, and it is so incredibly effective. There are a few elements that make up the event itself. The sight, the sound, and the aftermath. This nails all three. In terms of effects, the blood leaping is sudden, but also sort of expected. The audience is told it will react to the wire in some way, but not exactly how.
Looking for decent horror movies that do not rely on jump scares
2020年3月1日 · If you ever want the complete opposite of Jump Scares watch "Monster" not a single jump scare during the entire saga but the dread from just seeing Graffiti is terrorizing. Mein lieber Dr. Tenma Sehen Sie Mich! Sehen Sie Mich! Der Monstrum in meinem selbst is groß geworder. That's like 10 hours into the saga and totally worth it.
Are there jump scares that don't rely on sound? : r/movies - Reddit
2017年10月5日 · Personally I'm not the biggest fan of jump scares and I especially hate them when they are used in non-horror movies. However with probably all jump scares I remember it is about 90% the sound, the sudden loud bang (or whatever) that comes together with the scare, that startles me and maybe 10% the image.
How to deal with jump scare fear? : r/EscapefromTarkov - Reddit
2020年8月21日 · This is my second wipe and I still have jump-scare-fear. But what helped me somewhat was playing factory *a lot*. it's more run/gun style and helped me get over jump scares by being more of the aggressor myself instead of waiting around to get sniped in the head out of nowhere. you will die a lot and every time you do a bit of that jump scare fear will go away :)
Movies that have no jumpscares but make your skin crawl
2022年12月6日 · It’s like KIND OF a jump scare, but it’s not loud or super in your face. It is soooooooooo fucking unsettling, honestly the movie is worth watching just for that one scene. And the actor NAILS the reaction too, I’d say the ending is definitely the strongest part of the movie
Jump scares are not inherently bad : r/horror - Reddit
Jump scares are cheap and a sign of lazy writing. I agree, one or two in a movie is acceptable, but if that's all it is, I'll get bored fast. Not only that, but nearly EVERY horror movie shoots them the same way, so if you pay attention to cinematography, you can see them coming. If I can predict it, it's not an effective jump scare.
