That means shims under every joist and shims under every point load. One of the axioms which I told all my apprentices is that every real carpenter will always have steel shims in his truck.

2001年3月3日 · I shim with wood wedges between concrete and sill under each joist. Then I drypack with non-srink grout between wedges, after the grout sets remove the wedges and fill the holes with grout. If the plate is above the anchore bolts I would use sismic retro fit products from Simpson to tie down the structure.

2011年4月17日 · The floor was balloon framed so I was able to get it fairly level by moving the rim joists and modifying the interior posts/beams. However, now I'm hoping to set trusses in about a week but I'm left with the exterior wall double-top plate being about 2" out of level (it's a 2x4 exterior wall). 2" is too much to shim.

2002年8月12日 · Re: Sill plate leveling Dave, Assuming you are referring to the plate the floor joists rest on, I allow for a leveling bed. Don't rely entirely on the mason for a level foundation. Design in a 1/2" thick mud bed below the sill (p.t. 2x8). With a builders level, place spacers (shims) at each anchor bolt (4'-0" oc max).

2011年7月20日 · Re: Protector plate bulges Those drywall shims are great- much better than cardboard. Not really expensive, definitely cheaper than paying someone to rip cardboard. And a handy shim stock for other things, too. And you can split them fairly easily for a thinner shim.
