2009年1月1日 · Rosewood vs Mahogany Tone. I know that tone is really a personal thing but still want to hear your opinion. I am looking for your opinion about the tone difference between Rosewood and Mahogany (back/sides). Please try to compare same size and manufactures in your opinion. Since tone can be seriously affected by size and manufacture.
Rosewood vs Mahogany - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
2017年8月4日 · Regardless of sound, I play different on a mahogany guitar than I do a rosewood guitar. Rosewood tends to sound more delicate to me, and I tend to play fingerstyle and modern music. Mahogany to me has such a great woody tone, and I get a lot more rootsy and bluesy with Hog guitars. I'm preferring mahogany these days, but rosewood has its place.
Rosewood vs Mahogany - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
2013年5月23日 · As mentioned earlier, mahogany has more of a fundamental tone with a dry woody sound, rosewood has more overtones, chime, and reverb, a more complex sound that I like. The balance between bass, midrange, treble depends on the build. Various rosewoods will sound slightly different. Cocobolo is more reflective and bold compared to east indian ...
Rosewood vs Mahogany? - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
2009年3月7日 · Mahogany provides a brighter tone so I prefer it over rosewood for flat-picking and being heard without a lot of effort. I also think that Red spruce or Englemann coupled with Mahogany accentuates this brightness and makes each note stand out again making the guitar able to be played with an easy stroke, very important to me.
How does a guitar with walnut back/sides compare to rosewood …
2010年6月15日 · I've played most of the guitars in the Taylor GC size lineup (512, 612, 712) to have a good idea of the sound characteristics of maple, mahogany, and rosewood for backs and sides. Some luthiers in Europe use walnut. In terms of sound characteristics, where would that wood fall in comparison to maple/mahogany/rosewood? Thanks Richard
Mahogany vs. Rosewood B/S? - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
2019年5月21日 · I have two guitars that are structurally identical but for one being mahogany and the other being MRW. One is an MFG 12 fret 000-18GE. The other is the same guitar but with MRW back and sides. There are some cosmetic differences, but the only variation between the two that would affect tone is the difference in tone woods.
Mahogany vs. Rosewood: THE FINAL BATTLE - Acoustic Guitar Forum
2021年4月8日 · I recently acquired my first rosewood guitar, an OM-28, and I'm still getting familiar with its character. I'm enjoy the lush, layered overtones and ringing sustain, but it sounds less "woody" and warm than mahogany-backed guitars, which typically have a richer, fuller midrange and a stronger fundamental tone. _____
Ovangkol: closer to rosewood or closer to mahogany? - The …
2016年8月25日 · I have often referred to ovangkol as "rose-hogany". It has elements of both tone woods, but is closer to rosewood, IMO. I own a Taylor 414 and a 410, both in ovangkol, and like them a lot. That warm golden honey colored wood is really pretty, and tone ain't bad either. My T5 classic also has ovangkol as a top.
Is Ovangkol any closer to Rosewood than Sapele is to Mahogany?
2012年4月24日 · Knowing that East Indian Rosewood commands a premium over Honduran Mahogany, I was curious about Ovangkol vs Sapele and if it should legitimately command a similar premium. PS: From a personal preference standpoint, one thing that struck me immediately was that (IMHO) the mahogany neck on the ovangkol GA4-12 did not blend well aesthetically at ...
recording with rosewood and mahogany - Acoustic Guitar Forum
2024年3月18日 · Even the high-strung Gurian shone in this regard. An octave higher than the HD-28, the notes are no less bell-like. Even the wave forms in the rosewood tracks look different from those of the mahogany guitars: you can see the nodes and resonances! Both rosewood guitars deserved to take the melody.
