And I think the Podium mod is not for 1.12.2, the version I’d need it for. Seems like it’s just an alternate looking skin for the lectern for 1.16.

It could be a few things, one, there was a bug that if a villager is in a 1 by 1 block space, it becomes unemployed, 2, they can't "reach" the workspace, put the lecture one block lower and don't put a block directly on top of it.

2021年12月6日 · If you've changed from Bedrock edition to Java edition, that's one of the differences. Tile entities like lecterns cannot be pushed or pulled by pistons. AFAIK lecterns have never been moveable with pistons in Java edition. Thanks for the explanation! Didn’t even know there were different Mc versions lol.

Adventure mode might do it. Install griefprevention plugin and make an admin claim in the spawn.
