2018年11月12日 · FYI - I have an old Icom IC-735 that is opened up for general coverage xmit and it seems to put out a few watts down there. I only live on a city lot too but this week may see the 160m wires re-attached to the 30 ft high 80m vertical T top hat, and an attempt to wind up some added loading inductance to see how close to resonance on 630m it can get.

My favorite radio for look and feel was the IC-765, and for performance it has been a toss up between several of them. Just last week I sold my TS-480SAT (which incidentally was a great radio) as I scraped together the cash (about $1500) to buy the IC-7000.

2014年6月17日 · The main attraction to the ICOM-7100 over the ICOM-7000 is the D-Star feature on both VHF/UHF, 6m, and on the HF bands. So basically you are getting digital HF voice capability from 160m-10m, on 6M, on 2M, and on 70cm. It is also touch screen and has the voice assistant "Icom Girl" to guide you through the touch screen process.

Should it be checked periodically?? Probably, but I know very few amateurs that align their transceivers (or have aligned professionally) regularly.

Then you add the fact that this radio includes a useful waterfall display, covers HF through 6 meters, easily connects through USB to a computer, takes up only as much room as the venerable IC-735, and costs under $1000 new, and you have a hands-down winner.
