The main question was/is: can it be separated from the Nazi regime and enjoyed independently, or is it tied together with the Nazi regime and could be considered Nazi "propaganda"?

Erika was very much a love child of the Nazi era and it is difficult to separate the two as the answer I linked mentions. There were however popular militaristic German songs from the 19th century such as Die Wacht am Rhein (The Watch on the Rhine), the “Ride of the Valkyries” from Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) or The Königgrätz March.
