Bowdoin College is historic. And selective. And rigorous. But most importantly, we were founded and endowed with the belief that there is something bigger than ourselves.. What does it mean for a college to do the right thing?

At Bowdoin, chalk dust still flies. Students rarely skip class. Laptops are provided, but we still work face-to-face—even in courses like Robotics, or Nature-Inspired Computation, or Digital Media.. There's a surprising amount of laughter, a reasonable amount of frustration, and room for fiery, passionate disagreements.

Students are billed for each academic year in two installments. Fall semester bills are sent in July; Spring semester bills are sent in December.

Of the 2,052 students studying in residence and off campus, 1,036 (50.5%) have declared a major as of Fall 2024. Of these 1,036 students, 522 (50.4%) have declared a single major; 410 (39.6%) have declared a double major; and 104 (10.0%) have declared a coordinate major (Digital and Computational Studies, Education, or Environmental Studies combined with another major).
