In trying to figure out how to open it to either lube the fan or replace it, I unplugged the Roamio and then plugged it back it about about 2-3 times, with the higher pitched and noisier howling on start up seeming to confirm it was the fan.

2024年3月9日 · I believe the WD Blue disks are their cheapest, and they do not claim to be designed for constant DVR or NAS usage. The Product Brief shows WD10EZEX as using CMR (required for TiVo use) and 7200rpm (not better for TiVo use, and probably noisier). I have no way to predict how long it will be before it fails, and all hard drives do fail eventually.

2016年4月6日 · It is noisier than AV drives, but not awful in normal use. If you're sitting right in front of your TiVo, you will hear it however. The drive does not support AAM. The drive supports Advanced Power Management and came already set at level 128, which is the lowest power level without spin-down. One odd thing is that this drive has an activity LED.

2019年4月1日 · Green is also more noisier then the Reds with all the activity in a Tivo. I have a WD 4TB Red in a Roamio and a WD 1TB Green in a Series 3 and the S3 is louder then the Roamio. Just need to have an ear near them, but can hear them on a very quiet night.

2022年11月26日 · Recommended drives are WD Red Plus, models ending in EFRX (old model), EFZX, PURx/z (Purple surveillance drives). The old Green AV drives are no longer made, noisier than the ones mentioned, out of warranty. You can use up to 8TB or more. 8TB Premiere -----

2022年5月13日 · If you buy locally and it works great, if not could return and/or exchange for a previous model purple or the Red Plus. Or perhaps Seagate if you make sure you get a CMR model. Finally best though not necessary to get 5400RPM drives (or 5900 or that new tech is 5040 I think). 7200 not needed and can run a bit hotter and be a bit noisier than 5400.

Roamio will self-format up to 3TB and needs to be connected to a computer for up to 8TB. 2024年2月25日 · Good HDs have around 1% annual failure rate. Just bad luck. WD retired the "Green" branding long ago. Low capacity "Red Plus" were mostly the same drives, at least until recently (the latest low capacity Reds are 2TB/platter and may have a different heritage...and they are noisier, I've read).
