Our Story - WEAR IT PURPLE
Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers, real heartache and their very real responses. In 2010, several rainbow young people took their own lives following bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

Donate — WEAR IT PURPLE
Wear it Purple Day is held on the last Friday in August each year – this year being Friday 30th of August. In 2024 our theme is ‘Your Passion, Your Pride’ and we encourage all Australians to wear purple to show young LGBTQIA+ people they are loved, supported and empowered to bring their whole self to life.

The Queer Futures Fund must go towards projects and cannot be used for personal use like financial aid, assisting with study or top surgeries etc. Wear it Purple has a separate grant program supporting young LGBTQIA+ young people with financial aid - you can find out more about this here!
