Within the last 3 or 4 issues of Rod and Custom they did an article on dissasemblig an F1 brake master cyl and derusting it using vinegar or something, and it seems like I remember them hooking a battery charger to it. He says I have to leave it alone, cant pick at it like a scab he says. Get back from NSRA Louisville after 3 days and yank the pan out. I couldnt believe it!

Odds are, most of the pennies you used are newer than 1981-82 and made of zinc, so the white excetion was probably the vinegar dissolving the zinc from behind the copper oxide. fun fact: Solid copper pennies can technially be used as anodes in copper plating. But rigid copper pipe is cheaper and better to use.

Oxalic acid is still considered a mild acid, but more effective against rust, than vinegar, molasses or citric acid. It's also mild enough to be safe with softer metals, like brass, copper, etc.

2008年5月26日 · Strap you gas tank to the drum, and. fill the gas tank half full with water and corse sand/ gravel. Let it tumble for about an hour. It will come out clean and rust free. This is Slightly acid, ordinary water being about 7.5 is less acid & Coffee, at about 5.5, is much stronger than evapo-rust; BUT Evapo-rust has other organic compounds that help break down rust by chelation as well. Vinegar at about 2.5 is considered very acidic.
