To support Dynamic Multipath Optimization™ (DMPO), VMware encapsulates packets in a protocol called the VeloCloud Multipath Protocol (VCMP). VCMP adds 31-bytes of overhead for user packets to support resequencing, error correction, network analysis, and network segmentation within a single tunnel.
