Salt CRYSTALS vs salt PELLETS in the water softener? Any real
I live over a limestone aquifer so my water is 17 grains. The new water softener is working great (Clack valve and Enpress tank 45K grain system, replaced for $1700, including city permit). Some people say that the crystals are better because the product they use to bind the pellets turns into sludge/gunk on the bottom of the brine tank.

2021年11月25日 · Keeping the brine tank overfilled is another reason. If you fill it to the top, allow it to use most if not all the salt before you refill it. When you refill it, be careful to add it slowly as it will displace water until the water has been saturated. I suggest checking it every 4-6 months depending on the brine tank size.

2023年4月23日 · Diamond Crystal salt is inferior and leaves a dirty film floating on the water in my brine tank. It literally looks like dirt. The Morton salt is always bright white and is clean with no film. I’m sure Costco got some kind of deal to save us a couple cents, but Diamond Crystal is trash. I’ve been picking up Morton’s brand for $9ish. Ours has them but they are 20% more expensive than Home Depot. Mine's had the pellets for years but I had be using the crystals so that they don't dam. Though now with the prices going up it might be time to go back to pellets.

2023年11月4日 · I can’t find Kinetico brand salt anywhere. The manual the installer left said that’s what was currently being used. Couldn’t reach the installer either. I called a local Kinetico dealer and they said Diamond Crystal bright and soft is a good salt to use. They said to dump 5 gallons of water in the tank then fill with a few bags of salt.

2015年7月23日 · I only use and sell the solar salt, I think the pellets are more prone to bridging. I prefer solar. You can use either. If you use pellets avoid filling the tank above 2/3. 2016年3月6日 · The salt is just used to ionize the water softener filter. The water you use should never come in contact with it. I assume that the larger pellets would last longer due to reduced surface area, but they may also be less effective at re-ionizing the filter. If your water is soft enough I would go with the larger pellets.

I was mixing my salt and water in a 5 gallon bucket and I don’t know why but it took 4 days to fully mix. I’m not sure what’s going on. Also when I did my water change my tank got really foggy.
