2017年1月12日 · Moisten the mix as you add it in. Peat moss is very hard to wet and you want to avoid dry spots. If you have a local composting facility, ask if they sell a nursery or garden mix. It usually has the compost, sand, soil, and sometimes manure in it and it is ready to plant. Ask for the soil analysis first to make sure it is not too alkaline.

2014年3月31日 · I've built 2-2'x8' beds out of cedar. They are on a slight hill, with one side being 16" deep and the other being 10" deep (bed is then level). The beds are being filled with a potting soil mix (1/3 top soil, 1/3 compost, 1/3 another I can't remember...). My question is how "full" do I fill them? To the edge of the wood, few inches below?

2012年7月7日 · We are building 4 raised vegetable gardens, each are 16'x4'x18". I think we'll use half mushroom compost (straw, peat moss, chicken manure, cottonseed meal, soybean meal, gypsum and lime. PH=6.8 ) and half 4 way soil (a mixture of topsoil, Composted cow manure, yard debris compost and sand). This is our first attempt at a garden.

2008年6月22日 · I'm going to be making a raised herb bed some time soon, Mostly for perrenial herbs. I was wondering if any one has any recomendations for what kid of soil I should use. I know in general they like well drained soil. I was think of mixing standard topsiol with little bit of peatmoss to improve drainage a little. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.

2020年1月2日 · I did lime it to keep it from getting any lower. I do have a ton of weeds so I decided to mulch with newspaper (C:N 171:1) and I tried two different brands of organic raised bed soil mix and miracle grow. I had each type of mix in a section of my garden. The organic sections did not perform as well as the miracle grow potting mix.

2016年5月5日 · I removed some of it and spread it over my in-ground garden and topped the raised bed off with a small load of better soil and that made a big difference. If local nurseries don't sell garden soil, then they probably have a leg up on the places that handle quality stuff and it would likely help if you checked with them.

2015年8月12日 · Be advised that the roots of most garden plants go quite deep, from 3 to 8 feet. You really handicap your plants if you put a bottom in a raised bed. I would dig the area, then construct the raised portion of the bed and make no root barrier. Let those roots go down.
