The R9 200 was significantly faster than the GF700, but NVidia then released the 900 series which put them back into the lead.

Nvidia so you can brag about advanced features you won't use and have a recognizable brand. All my plebian friends have Nvidia and don't know shit about undervolting. If you like Iphones go Nvidia if you can appreciate freedom android gives you go AMD. Learned overclocking because my OG radeon rx580 stock ran hot and loud.

Maybe it's Nvidia fanboys poo-pooing it because so many AMD cards are shown to outperform Nvidia. By the way, I use an Nvidia card, and given Nvidia's most recent disrespect for their customer base, my only salvation from total shame is that it's a board partner card and I didn't actually give money directly to Nvidia or Best Buy.

If you're just playing games (not using it for machine learning, GPU based offline 3D rendering, or other GPU intensive productivity apps), and don't care about raytracing or NVEC encoding, then AMD Radeon cards will generally be the better buy in most cases.
