I do not believe 3d audio works through 3.5mm. I plugged in 3.5 mm and went to audio settings on the ps5, played around with the 3d audio settings. Changing the sound ear level had no change between the 5 levels, and the sound was very obviously static stereo. What I've done is just use my headset paired to ps5 and turn portal audio down.

Best bet is 3D pulse it’s built for the ps5. Many others have issues with 3D audio and other stuff like connection. If you want a headset better than pulse in terms of audio in game quality I don’t think there’s an option but we haven’t seen comparisons yet.

What's important to stress is that the Pulse headset isn't "a 3D headset", meaning it's not that there are "3D" and "2D" headsets. Even a cheap $1 Skull Candy pair of earbuds will give you stereoscopic sound. As long as there's a speaker in the left and right ear, it's all on the software to deliver that stereoscopic effect.
