2021年6月1日 · You could use touch-up varnish, oil out, or apply a thin coat and work into that. Personally I hate working on dried paint, unless there’s some drybrushing strokes that might benefit from it. On the few occasions I’ve worked on an old painting, I prefer to scrape any ridges of thicker impasto paint with a canvas scraper, and repaint areas.

I figured ahh what the heck, its only my third painting so I’ll probably make much better stuff later. Well I ended up spending a lot of time on it, got a bit carried away and in the end I am super happy with the painting.

Any tips on stretching dried, painted canvas?
2007年3月9日 · I would recommend stretching the canvas before painting, then removing. Afterward, the canvas can be restretched onto the same stretcher bars. This process will be least stressful to the paint. I have done it the other way for small paintings with thin paint. Tape the canvas to a board, paint, dry, then mount on proper size stretchers.

Possible additional factors could include using a tight-weave canvas primed smooth (with the acrylic) which would also lessen the possibility of a physical bond to the canvas.
