2019年7月30日 · Brief background: I have been playing a cheap Rogue mandolin for a couple of years now. I love it. I realize it's the lowest of the low as far as quality, but honestly, that thing is so much fun to play. A couple of days ago, I acquired a Trinity College octave mandolin. Wow, I love that too! But while playing my new TC Octave, I have a ...

I did this very repair on a Trinity College octave mandolin last year. I also shim up the one-piece bridges on old oval hole Gibsons from time to time.
Famous Octave Mandolin players
2020年8月14日 · The words famous and mandolin don't appear very often together in the same sentence even before you start throwing in "octave". The distinction between an octave and a bouzouki is not just scale length if you consider a typical zouk tuning to be GDAD, a really effective tool for melody playing for those who can pull it off.
Seeking Octave Mandolin Plans and Advice
2022年2月1日 · I'm planning to make an octave mandolin for the first time. I have guitar, banjo and ukulele making experience, but most of that was a long time ago. I want to make a simple unadorned flat top instrument along the lines of the Flatiron octave. Finding plans for the Flatiron, or just it's bracing pattern would be great.
Octave tuning/string tension question - Mandolin Cafe
2021年10月14日 · The Octofone is quite short-scale (21") for an octave mandolin, and I may tweak those gauges in the future; thinking about a heavier "high octave" string for the 4th course -- maybe wound, I dunno. Octofones are crazy lightly built, so I'm cautious about string tension; I've already had to have a carbon fiber stiffening bar installed in the ...
