Princess Peach (casually Peach, usually known as Princess Toadstool outside of Japan prior to Yoshi's Safari, and later Super Mario 64) is a major character in the Super Mario franchise, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, and the love interest of Mario.

She was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and introduced in the 1985 original Super Mario Bros. game as Princess Toadstool. She is the princess regnant and head of state of the Mushroom Kingdom, where she resides in her castle along with Toads.
