2015年10月30日 · I supposed they could have said "NOX" and pronounced it "knock" over the phone. I assumed "knock" because, this being my first diesel, I'm thinking about the knock sensor in gasoline engines which allows them to run fairly advanced timing but avoid deadly pre-ignition "knock" that can put a hole in the piston. I'll ask more about that on Monday.

2014年6月25日 · My truck kept throwing DPF frequency codes and then a DEF code so I took it in. 3 days later they are telling me its the Knock sensor ( I made them spell it for me), I asked if they mean NOx sensor (spelled it for them) and I got attitude. Apparently a new flash is the fix however, I want to make sure they aren't blowing smoke. Thanks!

2004年11月7日 · Diesel engine's run on knock. Knocking is defined as compression detonation on a gas engine. With no sparkplugs.... diesels run on knock. In fact with pilot injection we knock quite a bit, which is why non HPCR diesels are so darn loud... all the 'knock' occurs as a single rather than a multiple event There ya go..... learned something new today!

2010年2月14日 · the knock sensor is not to really quiet anything down, it really detects to make sure the timing is adjusted adequately. too advanced/retarted and you will get a knock. Its more of a safety feature than a sound feature...

2013年8月17日 · The 'sensor' includes an approx. 25" harness to a square metal piece that bolts to the truck and has the connector to mate to the truck harness. Presumably there is a small circuit board in the metal piece. The block for the sensor at the back/top of the motor is on the LHS of the firewall. The block for the DPF sensor is frame mounted.

2024年4月8日 · Welcome and congrats on the truck. Common noise people hear. Some people say they hear a “knock” sound after oil change that goes away as oil gets older. Another common “knock” complaint is something to with the cooling fan drive. 2020 and newer run a second belt just for the fan and when belt is removed ”knock“ goes away.
