2018年2月15日 · Lastly, never use red kero or scented lamp oil. They will reduce how efficiently the wick draws up fuel as well as load it up with tar as it burns, burn cooler, and smoke more. Clear lamp oil is at Walmart and usually under $7/gal. called Florasense and over by the candles. It is about 1/2 the cost of other "odorless" ones.

The crust on the top of the wick will really mess up the performance of the lamp. If you use a flat wick, trim the wick so that it resembles an inverted V (^).

They work good enough , don’t leak too much , trim the wick keep the glass clean I don’t see what a more expensive one (without getting into a pressurized lantern) will do better unless it’s a bigger lantern altogether and throws more light.

2020年3月11日 · I’ll bet a new wick makes it work. A wick standing in a jar will work fine. No vents needed on that type of lantern, but the wick MUST move the fuel to the burning area. Typically, old, dirty ones won’t do that right. Get a new wick and show us the working lamp please!
