GLADOS (G enetic L ifeform A nd D isk O perating S ystem) is an artificial intelligence created by Aperture Science, and the primary antagonist of the Portal series. She is the main antagonist throughout Portal and the first half of Portal 2 's single-player campaign.

After learning about what fellow Valve developers had planned for the final boss battle in Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the Portal developers decided to implement a neurotoxin that would kill the player-character in six minutes. [31]

The Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System (commonly shortened to GLaDOS) is the central artificial intelligence of the Aperture Science Enrichment Center, and serves as the main antagonist throughout Portal and the first half of Portal 2 's single-player campaign. As the overseer, she resides in the Central AI Chamber.

GLaDOS is the first and only Portal character to be mentioned in the Half-Life series; her name is on the Borealis blueprints that appear in Half-LIfe 2: Episode Two. The way she is destroyed in the first game is very similar to the way the Nihilanth dies from Half Life 1.

Following Chell's exile from Aperture Laboratories, GLaDOS begins testing on ATLAS and P-body. They are sent through a series of test courses designed to prepare them for the final chamber which takes place in the abandoned basement of the facility.

2017年10月16日 · GLADOS allowed some scientists to live to get rid of the Borealis. However what makes this interesting is that GLADOS possibly did not go on a psychotic rampage on her own terms, she was intentionally programmed to be hostile for the Combine invaders, and kill everyone off who knew information the Combine could use.

Firstly, GLaDOS says that "things have changed last time you [Chell] left the building". Not only does this suggest that Portal 1 isn't Chell's first time in Aperture, she also seems aware of the Combine invasion (as we know, HL and Portal are in the same universe).

IMO it's highly unlikely that GLaDOS was connected to an external network outside of Aperture, meaning that even if the Combine did hack into other computer networks on Earth during the invasion, they wouldn't have been able to influence GLaDOS.
