2022年6月16日 · I spoke to my ND breeder friend who has been doing this for decades and she said every rare once in awhile a Nigerian Dwarf can carry the fainting gene and/or the silky hair gene which I subsequently read a few places online. There was some Dairy Goat Association that said that although it's extremely rare, Nigerian Dwarfs can have myotonia.

I think they would make pretty fun pets, and I'm thinking about purchasing a fainting doeling. My main questions are: How well does the myotonic characteristic pass on to the kids? (I'd be breeding a fainting doe with a Nigerian Dwarf buck.)

2015年6月15日 · Until a very seasoned hooved animal vet/goat owner told me not to worry because "all goats can faint" What you have there is likely a cross between any of the three most recognized dwarf breed goats in North America: Nigerian Dwarf; Pygmy; Myotonic.

2007年10月5日 · Not all mytonics are considered mini's. The mytonics that the gal at Onion Creek used to devlope her goats were all over 100lbs. My fainting goat is between 75lbs and 100lbs. So what I am going for is a boer cross that bulks up faster then a pure boer. My kids enjoy showing meat goats in market shows.

2021年3月12日 · Longtime breeder of minature fainting goats. About 8 months ago one of our younger goats started to develop scabs on her ear tips and then they slowly spread down lower on the ear over a several month period. No mites or lice detected in scrappings of ears.

2011年8月22日 · The Myotonic Goat Registry has developed a fairly subjective but helpful method of identifying this degree of stiffness and will allow one to rate and document the stiffening characteristic of their goat. The International Fainting Goat Association at this time still requires a down, or stiff picture.

2021年8月17日 · Hello everyone, We keep our horses down the street at a friends house 50% of the time. She has 2 goats, a Pygme, and an adopted Fainting goat, Dutch. She keeps them in a pen with plenty of things to climb on, scratch and browse. She recently moved them to an area with plenty of grass and forage which they are throughly enjoying.

2017年10月22日 · All we received with the goats was a piece of paper with a brief description of their breed and medical history. There is a mother (unknown age) with three kids. It says the mother is a fainting goat and 2 of the kids are 1/2 fainting goat and 1/2 mini nubian. The other kid (not from previously mentioned mother) is a mini nubian.

2023年3月5日 · We have a 21 day old fainting goat who did this for the first time 2 hours ago. He falls over and stiffens up and acts like he’s trying to get back up but just flails around. He gets up and acts confused and out of it for a bit and then he gets back to trotting around. He’s done it 3 times so far and we can’t find out what is happening.
