Also the protocoles each use are different so hardware conversion would be needed. Basically anybody selling a firewire to USB cable is selling a scam - they can't possibly work.

2020年5月7日 · Seems crazy to me that its physically impossible to transfer MiniDV tape content to a new, standard Windows 10 laptop. Transferring DV files to a PC requires a firewire interface. USB (even 3.0) does not have a fast enough sustained transfer speed. These days that would mean a desktop PC with a firewire (IEE 1394) card.

Transfer in real time, from a DV camcorder tape, will require a continuous data stream, so, as Graham says, using USB to 'capture' DV will result in dropped frames.
