External monitors detected but not active, how can I fix this?
Mar 23, 2023 · Updating the BIOS certain Drivers, though none that are related to display or output. In the normal Display settings it simply shows the other external monitors but are a different faded grey, im assuming to show they arent active. Cant access refresh rate or alter they display configs. hope this helps solve it. Thanks again.

To be more clear, if I have a 27-inch 1440p monitor and a 4k 27-inch monitor, the 4k monitor shows up as a bigger monitor in the display settings.

Nov 9, 2016 · Those are you, valid monitors. Select one of the "invalid" or "ghost" monitors. Scroll down and click the multiple display drop down. Select "Disconnect this display" and accept the change when prompted. Then click "Remove this display" from the same drop down. Repeat this for each monitor you wish to remove, the display should go away.
External monitors not detected through docking station after …
After updating to Windows 10, no monitors that are connected through the docking station are detected. The monitors are detected if I plug them directly into the laptop's HDMI or VGA ports. However, other USB devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse) still function properly through the docking station. Only the display monitors seem not to be detected.

Jul 2, 2019 · Unfortunately, I do not think it is possible to change the monitor identities. You can move the monitors around, and change the primary display. Depending on how the monitors are arranged, it may be possible to set the main monitor and then move the other 2, so they match the arrangement. The main display is the only thing you can change.

Jul 20, 2019 · To avoid having Windows put anything on the broken display, I went to setup and disabled display 2. So then I had display 1 (laptop screen) and display 3, configured as display 2. Then I got a replacement for the Philips 2-monitor hardware that I was using, but Windows still had the configuration where display 2 is disabled.

Since you are having issues when arranging the displays, we recommend that you disconnect all external displays then reconnect, arrange and save them one at a time to resolve this issue. Otherwise, you may need to configure it using Intel Display application.
