2013年2月19日 · Whilst in mild steel a blunt drill will happily keep going to a fair degree, in 304 one or 2 1/4" holes even just 1/8" deep is the difference between disaster and success with a drill on the edge of needing a regrind. Also don't baby the feed, stainless cuts pretty easy, just needs a sharp cutting tool.

2013年3月4日 · Im going to use a 120° carbide spot drill to locate the hole and a 0.015" or 0.020" depth of peck as There is not much room for chips to go. I feel that because of the small diameter of the drill my RPM should be more in the 80-120sfm range. I believe 303 is a free machining stainless leaving it less "gummy" like 304ss.

2008年4月10日 · 1/4" thick bar of 304 Stainless steel. 5/16" cobolt drill bit Manual drill press I used a drill press running at Aprox. 100 RPM and after 16 holes the bit is starting to dull. The chips are not blue, and the hole is coming thru the back with out burning. Oil was used by brushing it on the bit while running. I do not feel like it is overheating.

I am drilling 9/16 2.00 deep and it's a blind hole, I'm using a high quality 135 degree split point cobalt drill. I am just touching the part with a spot drill to remove the cut off tit left over from the turning operation then going in with the 9/16 drill.

2017年11月1日 · We have been recently using an inserted drill from K-Tool, called a Drill Sergeant. Looks sort of like a spade drill. It is for a .562 hole, 2" deep. We have been running 200 SFM, .004 IPR. So far we are up to nearly 400 holes on one insert, which is about $35. If you have a lot of holes, I highly recommend this. If only a few, go with cobalt-HSS.

2019年7月25日 · I’ve probably removed over 100 taps in my career using a TIG welder. As long as the tap isn’t cracked along the centerline it works pretty good. I use .030″ stainless safety wire as filler metal and sharpen the tungsten to a fine point. This process works best on aluminum but I’ve removed them on steels and stainless steels as well.
