This is getting a long way from a cnc mill conversion and you might get more watch orientated advice on a watch and clock forum rather than under benchtop machines.

2007年7月20日 · The bed is made from 1" thick ground steel with 1/2" thick sides and boxed in underneath by welding. The bed is 5" wide and 24" long. I mounted the z axis rails (Hiwin 15mm) today. I have them nice and parallel at around .0002" variance. The tailstock will also be mounted to the z-axis rails on 2 blocks.

After having installed the new mill the bf25 had no use anymore. I decided to convert that one to cnc. finished the conversion about 4 months ago. Made some very nice work pieces on it.

The Z will most likely slide down, and you would have to lock the gibs for drilling, and for manual milling, the screws could back off.. Get yourself a $100.00 drill press. Software wise, I prefer LinuxCNC.

The "horrible" noise you so delicately describe is nothing more than the other 3 DC servos ie ZYX axis homing first then the 4th axis homes last. Its just the normal sound of the servos. Im running DC servos on XYZ and a stepper on the 4th axis.
