Is it better to lease or buy welding gas???
I do however want to get welding!!! Also, most guys i spoke to said i would want 75% Argon and 25%CO2. I got a few quotes locally and the cheapest was: $240 To own a 50 cubic foot tank and $53 to refill it. $76/year To lease a 125 cubic foot tank and $75 to refill it. I just don't know exactly how much welding i will do.

Gas is staggeringly expensive. Before we start to move to the discussion of least offensive cost, we need a big tank. A cubic foot of argon in a little tank costs a lot more than in a big tank. Where I live, no one sells a big tank, no one fills a big tank if you don't lease. For me, 4 -300 CF tanks a year it costs less to lease.

The helium has poor cleaning and arc initiation and stability but has good thermal conductivity. You should only use the least amount of helium needed to produce the weld desired.

I only get charged for the gas because the lease is the same for all ''large'' cylinders. My point is, you should be able to try a bottle of the gas and if you don't like it then, when its empty, exchange it for a bottle of the gas you currently use.

It seams to get worse above 50 amps. I had someone watch the temp lite on the machine and that is not the problem. My supply power is 220v with a 40a breaker and I think that is ok.
