Das Erste (German: [das ˈʔeːɐ̯stə]; "The First") is the flagship national television channel of the ARD association of public broadcasting corporations in Germany. Das Erste is jointly operated by the nine regional public broadcasting corporations that are members of the ARD.
As a Public Service Broadcaster, ARD is directly financed and governed by the public and contributes their lives and our democracy. It serves to inform and entertain, to educate and celebrate our shared culture. With its wide range of programmes, ARD aims to reach everyone in Germany, regardless of background.
