Alternative to 6"x6" treated lumber for 10' and 12' in ground posts
2012年8月8日 · Make your own 6x6 by nailing 3 2x6 together, stagger the joints & use pressure treated for the portion that is under ground & regular 2x6 for the portion that is above ground. Most if not all wood post frame builders around these parts use this method instead of just using one pressure treated 6x6.

2014年6月12日 · The ones I linked to keep the post up off the concrete and are fastened to the concrete via either a L Bolt installed when you pour the slab or a drilled and epoxied bolt, I use 8" bolts. The post is secured via nails or screws. This is an engineered product made especially for posts. One point I forgot to warn you about.

2023年8月4日 · When attaching raised decks to 6x6 posts we used to notch the posts (to set the framing ON the posts, AND use through 1/2"-13 bolts to secure the porch frame to the posts. 1/2" all thread is also OK. It's the building code. To find your answer I'd look into the building codes.

Jib cranes put lateral stresses on their support posts that probably weren't anticipated by the building designers. The risk isn't just dropping the load, either, but collapsing the building.
