So since the .50 cal receiver on the hunting rifle uses the same ammo, it wouldn't really make sense in terms of balance for it to do more damage than the .308 receivers, since .308 is more costly to craft. Although... the Light Machine gun uses .308 and it does far less damage per shot with a higher rate of fire than the .50 Cal.

2016年1月19日 · A legendary .50 cal sniper rifle would be your best bet, but that will be outclassed by any Gauss rifle, or the Overseer's Guardian modded as a .308 semi-auto, or a 6-crank laser musket, if you don't have a suppressor and Mr. Sandman for the .50 cal. So if your regular sniper rifle hits with 100 points the .50 should hit with 560 points. It seems like no one at Bethesda has ever been to a shooting range sometimes.

2019年11月17日 · From what I read and gameplay experience, any weapon that is supposed to be a .50 Cal actually shoots a .50 Cal in game, but .338 is what the game uses for ammo storage / pickup. For example I can 1 shot Azrael drones with my ".338" Tac50, HTI, and M82 but other snipers that are actually a .338 (or equivalent) IRL takes 2 or 3 shots.
