"Loli" is a shortening of "lolicon" which in itself is a shortening of "Lolita complex" I take some issue with this. Yes, lolicon is shortening of lolita complex. But "loli" in general has come to describe a much broader range of characters than just sexualized young girls. And importantly, it refers to the character, not the fetish.
