Supply and demand set the prices, along with how raw gold was probably not worth as much to a miner as it would be refined on the open market. I believe most miners came back quite broke after the rush was over.

Perhaps before the “Gold Rush” tv show where relatively obscure professional miners suddenly become international celebrities, issues with the water permits in the Klondike would have been handled differently? Maybe the First Nation folks are beginning to see the “Gold Rush” show as a new way to give more public visibility to their agenda?
