The river offers several areas for outdoor recreation and fishing opportunities. Along its banks are several parks, Golf courses, and the Jordan River Parkway trail. The river offers the chance to land Channel Catfish, Bullheads, White Bass, Walleye, Carp and even Trout.

Walleye do well in rivers and can be found throughout the Jordan, but are more numerous upstream, especially during their spring spawning run in April. There are a total of only seven native species found in the river, whereas there are 16 introduced exotics on this list. The most common and pervasive species in the river is the common carp.

However, despite its proximity, this water isn’t heavily fished and provides great opportunities for catfish, bullhead, carp, white bass and walleye.

Jordan River National Fish Hatchery was founded in 1965. The hatchery currently raises cisco, lake trout and rainbow trout that total 3 million fish per year for conservation efforts in and around the Great Lakes. This is accomplished with federal, provincial, state and tribal partners.

2024年7月19日 · The Jordan River Federal Fish Hatchery can be found along the river, it is no coincidence that it was built along the icy water where it can tap into the springs emerging from the Antrim Moraine to house young Lake Trout and Brook trout for stocking in the Great Lakes.
