2014年3月28日 · 38 Super is a relatively high pressure auto cartridge, while 38 Special is a black powder era lower pressure revolver cartridge. 38 Super, on the one hand and .357 Magnum/38 Special, on the other hand, are not interchangeable. Period. Some will say they have fired 38 Super in their .357 Magnums.

If the chambers were bored straight through, a 38 Special will fit the WWII K frames, but a LRN is too long for a top-break 38 revolver.

The .38 Special +P+ 110 grain JHP was known as the “Treasury Load” as agents of the Department of the Treasury and the US Secret Service were supplied with it prior to transitioning to self-loading pistols. I still have a case of Winchester .38 +P+. My 2.5” Colt Python I’ve had for thirty years loves the round.

2024年8月20日 · I load and shoot thousands of .38 Special each year and my absolute go-to powder is Bullseye. If I could not get Bullseye, I would probably use W232/HP-38. If I could not find that, I would poke around elsewhere, possibly Accurate#2. I would try a dozen new powders for .38 Special before I would use Titegroup ever again in .38 Special.

2013年4月18日 · And there is a "Modern .38 Special"...it is called the .357 Magnum. .38 Specials loaded to .357 Magnum velocities that can only be shot from a "modern" .38 Special that is nothing more than a short chambered .357 Magnum is not a .38 Special. .38 Special loads that will beat a gun rated for .38 Special +P to pieces are not .38 Specials.

2021年4月14日 · .38 Super is a larger case diameter than .38 Special. Same situation as shooting .38 S&W in a .38 Special. It will fit if your Super/S&W ammo is on the low side of tolerance and/or your Special chambers are on the high side. BUT, .38 Super is much higher pressure than .38 Special and will be hard on a revolver even "rated for +P."
