The U.K. government is pledging to clean up Lake Windermere, a sewage-clogged beauty spot that has come to symbolize the filthy state of Britain’s waterways

Environment Secretary Steve Reed is to pledge to ensure "only rainwater" enters England's largest lake. He is due to visit Windermere in Cumbria later and said the government was "committed to cleaning up this iconic lake" as part of its Plan for Change scheme,

"Windermere is a stunningly beautiful national treasure but it's being choked by unacceptable levels of sewage pollution"

For years celebrities and campaigners have rallied to demand the Lake District's iconic Windermere is cleaned up from pollution - finally the Government agrees.
