The fire has not spread to any buildings or homes, but officials evacuated homes surrounding the burning marsh out of precaution, according to Brookfield Fire Department Deputy Chief Darrin Kuwitzky.

According to a press release from the City of Brookfield, the fire was brought under control around 5:00 p.m. and extinguished by 6:15 p.m.
