Saute cumin in hot oil until fragrant. Add pureed tomatoes and cook until oil separates. Mix in salt, sugar, chilli powder, and garam masala. Add water, bring to a boil, then add paneer and peas.
Stir in the curry paste, coconut milk, water, lime zest and lime juice and bring to a simmer. Add the chicken and stir for 20 seconds. Stir in the cilantro. Transfer to bowls and serve with rice.
Tomato soup and tomato sauce seem like very different recipes, but they're not as dissimilar as you think. You might even be able to use one to make the other.
