BALTIMORE -- A three-year-old female reticulated giraffe has joined the herd at The Maryland Zoo. The new giraffe, which does not yet have a name, came from the Association for Zoos and Aquariums, another accredited zoo.

The giraffe herd at the Maryland Zoo has a new member, a 3-year-old female now settling into her new home. She is not currently visible to the public while she goes through a standard quarantine and gets to know the Zoo’s two other giraffes.

A new member has joined the reticulated giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) herd at Maryland Zoo. A three-year-old juvenile female from another Association for Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)–accredited zoo recently arrived and is quietly settling into her new home.

The Maryland Zoo says its latest resident, a 3-year-old reticulated giraffe, is settling in nicely but is in need of one particular thing: a name. The female giraffe arrived from another zoo and is not currently available to the public as she goes through a standard quarantine and gets to know the Maryland Zoo's other giraffes.

She's not visible to the public just yet. She's going through quarantine, which is normal, and getting to know the other two giraffes at the zoo.
