The 2024 edition of D&D is revamping the Artificer class with new spells and abilities. The updated Artificer class now includes options to craft magical items and burn them for spell slots.

A recently released Unearthed Arcana playtest document made updates to Eberon: Rising From the Last War and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything's artificer, which bodes well for the class' future.
