As some schools remain closed because of the floods, children have turned the dirty stagnant water into swimming pools. 'It feels nice to swim in this water' one child told reporter Kennedy Gondwe.

Women sometimes have to wade through the stagnant water and mud with bare feet. Despite the floods, many households have no running tap water. This woman has just washed her families clothes.
