Bangladesh, which usually exports potato, has imported the tuber for the first time for domestic consumption in a frantic effort to curb spiraling prices of the popular vegetable.

Following reports of Bangladesh importing sugar from Pakistan, the Muslim-majority country is now looking to expand its sources for potatoes and onions, including potential imports from Pakistan.
