GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has euthanized 13 bear cubs that were housed at Appalachian Bear Rescue due to illness, according to a release from the rescue.
The food shortage has driven bears, especially mother bears with cubs, to forage more boldly, often venturing into unsafe territory. McIntosh says this is leading to a rise in orphaned cubs.
