AMD announced its Ryzen AI Max processors at CES, ushering in a new series of AMD -based AI PCs and laptops. The chipmaker also unveiled low- and midrange CPUs with AI capabilities, ensuring that buyers with different budgets have a chance to snag an AI PC. All of these chips are set to become available over the course of 2025.

KitGuru reviewed the new Zen 5 Ryzen 5 9600X and today it’s the turn of Ryzen 7 9700X. Both the six-core and eight-part have a TDP of a mere 65W and that takes us into new territory and makes us wonder just how well the new Ryzen 7 will perform.

While the new Ryzen AI 7 340 and Ryzen AI 340 “Kracken Point” processors are basically pared down versions of the Strix Point chips that launched last summer, AMD’s Ryzen AI 200 series processors are basically just rebranded Ryzen 8040 Mobile “Hawk Point” chips.
