Hello!! Thanks for building the memorial. My band (Time and a Half) is playing at the casino 20 minutes north of the site on February 3rd. We will be making our first ever trip to the crash site on that day and I am looking forward to it!! Somehow being on stage February 3rd, 2017, the 48th anniversary of his passing, 20 minutes drive from the crash site is a bit haunting but it also feels like a strong honor. Buddy Holly's impact on rock n roll is easy to trace and for his life work, I am truly gracious. I am going to perform my best version of "Oh Boy" as the best way I can think of the honor my fallen hero.

The Clear Lake boat area has spots for parking and staying, by the way and it's not far from the downtown area. You might have checked that already but just in case--yes, there is a place if you want to stay. Maybe you might pitch your spot and take an Uber if you don't have a vehicle attached to your RV? There are mini- buses and taxis but schedules need to be sussed out online so check the Chamber of Commerce webpage for Clear Lake--the people are extremely helpful!
