Yes, if you have a few hours and you are a reasonably fit person. It's about 2.5k back to town. Make sure you are armed with a good map as the most direct route will take you through residential neighborhoods. If I were tight on time, I would stay up top for the rotation of maybe two trolleys (check times) and use that to get back down.
